The secret to a paint job that never peels lies entirely in the prep work. Raw aluminum naturally forms a thin oxide layer that prevents standard paint from sticking. If you paint directly over it, the finish will eventually delaminate.
Acid Pickling (Deoxidization): The hull is completely cleaned and etched with specialized marine acids to remove all surface impurities, welding soot, and natural oxide layers.
Chromate Conversion Coating: The pristine aluminum is then chemically treated to create a microscopic chrome-phosphate conversion layer.
